Andrew McCabe, the Deputy Director of the FBI has announced that he is stepping down immediately. He will take the entitled holidays that will carry him through to March (which will entitle him to full benefits) but no longer be serving.
What has caused this? Is he just tired of the work? or is something else afoot?
It has been reported that Director Christopher Wray has now seen the Nunes Memo (of #ReleasetheMemo fame), and just 12 hours later, McCabe steps down. Was he pushed?
The memo is thought to contain evidence that suggests the FBI were complicit in obtaining FISA warrants fraudulently. This combined with damaging texts between Agents Strzok and Page (that seem to suggest McCabe was involved with them) might prove to be a scandal too big to wash away.
Now that the House has voted on releasing the Memo, this may be time for the FBI to start distancing itself from scandal…What better way than to remove the Deputy Director?
And even more damning is that:
“Republicans have questioned McCabe’s ties to the Democratic Party, considering his wife ran as a Democrat for a Virginia Senate seat in 2015 and got financial help from a group tied to Clinton family ally Terry McAuliffe.”
Almost half a million dollars when McCabe was about to start running the Clinton investigation!
