Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch has just spoken aloud what we've all been thinking. In a speech that is already being twisted by the media, Hatch called out “entitlement programs” and said he finds it difficult to help those who won't help themselves.
“I have a rough time wanting to spend billions and billions and trillions of dollars to help people who won’t help themselves, won’t lift a finger, and expect the federal government to do everything,” he said.
“…For decades now, we’ve been spending more than we have, building more and more federal programs, some of which are lousy, some of which are well intended, and some of which are actually good like the CHIP program,” said Hatch. “We’re going to get CHIP through. There’s no question about that.” Referring to the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
You see this is the difference between the left and the conservatives. Hatch wants federal programs to be funded for helping kids who are not in a position to help themselves, and he wants federal and state programs to provide the tools needed for people so they can finally help themselves. But the left wants to make people dependent and weak…How else can they control them and their vote?
The press is shouting down Hatch saying he is uncaring. But it it uncaring to want people to help themselves, or at least try to make something of their lives. It is the fostered culture of victimhood that is causing the damage in this country…We need to help people, yes, but we need to help them with safety nets, support, and opportunities…Not a lifetime of welfare dependency.
