It appears that President Donald Trump is stuck in between the GOP and Democrats in a war over his policy (now signed) to add a 25% tariff to steel imports and 10% on aluminum.
Those on the right who demand free trade, are for once, as wrong as the left. Free trade is a great thing that allows real capitalism to spread and bring the poorest people out of poverty, but at the moment, the US does not have real free trade with the world. Almost every major business country in the world has a trade imbalance with the US…And until this is balanced, we can’t have a proper free trade agreement.
What is being ignored is that other countries already put tariffs on American goods! Why is no one talking about this?
We have supranational organizations that are essentially pro-Globalist and anti-nation state such as the European Union that seek to undermine the success of individual nations…Those who decry Trump’s actions here are not supporting a strong individualistic country.
On the world stage, this strategy is actually working. The Chinese government have set a one year period (in coordination with Trump) to figure out how to balance out the major trade deficit. The EU is desperate to retain some power as the UK seeks to leave and Italy has just voted in a populist, nationalist government.
At least Trump is trying to bolster American industry.
