President Trump has come under criticism from both sides of the gun debate with his latest move t look at removing bump stocks fro the marketplace. Bump stocks are essentially “gloves” that fit over the rifle to change it from semi-automatic closer to automatic fir (but not quite). A bump stock was used by the Las Vegas shooter.
Those who want gun control say that it is not enough and that he should go further, while those that oppose gun control say that the President should not be doing anything here because it is quite clear in the constitution.
So what should the President do? And is this bump stock ban really a damage to the 2nd Amendment?
Stopping the sale of bump stocks really won't make much difference to anyone. Many people actually make their own at home! And in terms of the 2nd Amendment, a bump stock is not a weapon! It is an accessory and therefore not covered by the constitution.
As to those who favor gun control, they should simply look at places like California and Chicago that account for 20% of the US gun crime, yet have the strictest gun control laws…They don't work! The people that suffer are innocent law-abiding folks who become soft targets for criminals.
